Fallout: New California mod launches on GOG

GOG has officially released the fan‑made mod Fallout: New California, a full‑scale prequel to Fallout: New Vegas. The modification, originally known as Project Brazil, began development in 2009, saw its first build in 2013 and a full public release in 2018. It is now offered for free to owners of Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition via GOG’s One‑Click Mod installer, eliminating the need for manual file handling.

The mod adds a new map set in California twenty years before the events of New Vegas, introduces eight unique companions, original dialogue, radio stations, and pits factions such as the New California Republic, the Enclave, raiders and super mutants against each other. Installation requires the Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition, which GOG is also discounting as part of its Bethesda 40th Anniversary Sale.
