Bethesda plans optimization patches for Oblivion Remastered
Bethesda Game Studios has announced that it is working on an optimization patch for ‘The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered’ following its recent release on the Nintendo Switch 2. The studio confirmed on social media that optimizations developed specifically for the Switch 2 version are being evaluated for implementation on other platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Since its initial launch on other platforms, the Unreal Engine 5-based remaster has faced criticism from players regarding technical issues such as frame rate instability, frequent crashes, and stuttering. The Switch 2 version has been noted for its successful use of NVIDIA DLSS technology, which allows the handheld console to deliver visual quality that reportedly exceeds the low-setting performance of the Xbox Series S.
While Bethesda has not yet provided a specific timetable or a comprehensive list of fixes, the upcoming update is expected to address long-standing performance bugs and stability issues that have persisted for nearly 400 days since the initial release of the remaster.
