Bethesda veteran claims Starfield was prioritized over The Elder Scrolls VI

Former Bethesda veteran and Skyrim director Kurt Kuhlmann has revealed that many developers at the studio expected development of The Elder Scrolls VI to begin immediately following the release of Fallout 4.

According to Kuhlmann, the studio's focus shifted due to the development of Fallout 76 and Starfield. While Fallout 76 was not originally intended to involve the entire studio, it impacted resource allocation. Kuhlmann noted that Todd Howard strongly advocated for Starfield, securing approval to pursue it as an ambitious new IP rather than proceeding with the next Elder Scrolls title.

The Elder Scrolls VI officially entered active development in 2023, but a specific release date has not yet been announced.
