Bethlehem Catholic High School damaged by suspicious fire

Bethlehem Catholic High School in Saskatoon sustained significant damage following a fire on the night of August 7, 2026. The blaze, which occurred around 10:30 p.m., primarily affected new portable classrooms currently under construction. While the portables suffered heavy damage, other parts of the school building sustained smoke and water damage.

The Saskatoon Fire Department reported finding large flames and heavy smoke at the construction site. No individuals were inside the building at the time of the incident. The Saskatoon Police Service has classified the fire as suspicious, and an arson investigator has been assigned to determine the cause.

Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools is currently assessing the extent of the damage. While the school year is scheduled to begin on September 2 and 3, officials are waiting for the fire department's findings before deciding if the start date will be delayed. Staff have recently been allowed back into the main building to begin cleaning efforts.
