Bethlehem residents protest attack on Jordanian church

Palestinian officials, religious leaders, and community members held a solidarity protest in front of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem on October 25, 2026. The demonstration was organized to condemn a recent attack targeting mourners near a church in the Karak governorate of Jordan.

The protest included participation from Christian clergy, Muslim imams, and local citizens. Participants rang church bells symbolically and raised banners denouncing terrorism, extremism, and violence. Religious leaders, including Father Issa Thaljieh and Mufti Abdul Majeed Amarna, emphasized the message of coexistence between Muslims and Christians and expressed deep solidarity with the Jordanian people.

Bethlehem Governor Mohammad Taha Abu Alia stated that the event serves as a message of anger toward the criminal act and a call for the protection of all places of worship. He noted that the incident has drawn condemnation from various regional institutions and announced plans to send a delegation from Bethlehem to Karak to offer condolences to the victims' families.
