Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiatives promote girl education in Kohima and Anantnag

Various regional initiatives under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) program have been implemented in Kohima and Anantnag to promote girl child education and empowerment.

In Kohima, the District Administration, in collaboration with SANKALP – District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), felicitated 20 girl students for academic excellence. Each recipient received a certificate and a cash award of Rs 10,000. The program also included a quarterly committee meeting to review activities such as awareness programs on menstrual hygiene, child rights, and financial literacy.

In Anantnag, the District Social Welfare Office conducted a three-day awareness and education kit distribution program across five educational institutions in the Verinag zone. The initiative sensitized students and teachers on gender equality, child rights, and the prevention of child marriage. During the program, 25 girl students were provided with essential education kits to support their learning and encourage continued schooling.
