Beto Carrero World to decommission Star Mountain roller coaster

Beto Carrero World, Latin America’s largest theme park, has announced the decommissioning of its oldest roller coaster, Star Mountain. The attraction is scheduled to make its final run on September 13, marking the end of a 32-year operation.

CEO Alex Murad stated that the decision was driven by the ride's age and the increasing maintenance required to ensure safety and comfort. Unlike modern rides built with digital precision, Star Mountain’s artisanal construction leads to excessive vibration. Furthermore, a German certification group that has monitored the ride since its inception recommended its retirement.

Manufactured by the Dutch company Vekoma, the coaster stands 22 meters high, spans 730 meters, and reaches speeds of 60 km/h. Over its lifespan, the ride has hosted an estimated 33 million passengers.
