Beto Preto addresses medical education expansion and rising radiopharmaceutical costs

Federal Deputy Beto Preto (PSD-PR) has addressed two distinct healthcare-related issues in Brasília. First, he highlighted the expansion of medical education in Paraná, noting that the state government has increased the higher education budget to establish new, free medicine courses at various campuses of the State University of Paraná (Unespar). New programs are being launched in Paranavaí, with additional courses in nursing and medicine planned for Cornélio Procópio and other regions.

Separately, Beto Preto raised concerns regarding a 24% price increase for radioisotopes and radiopharmaceuticals used in nuclear medicine. A manifesto signed by several medical entities, including the Brazilian Medical Association (AMB), warns that this adjustment by the National Nuclear Energy Commission (CNEN) significantly exceeds recent inflation rates. The entities expressed concern that the centralized supply structure controlled by CNEN limits the ability of hospitals and clinics to seek alternative suppliers to mitigate these rising costs.
