Betrand Peto recalls childhood as a street vendor

Singer Betrand Peto has shared details regarding his childhood in Nusa Tenggara Timur, where he worked as a street vendor to fund his education. Between the ages of 11 and 15, Peto sold various items including homemade donuts, steamed buns (bakpao), fish, and firewood to help meet his daily needs.

Peto recently gained social media attention for spontaneously purchasing a large stock of donuts from a street vendor. He explained that his decision was driven by his personal history of selling goods; seeing a vendor with unsold stock reminded him of his own struggles. He noted that the purchased donuts were intended for a religious gathering at his home. He expressed empathy for small-scale traders, noting that his past experiences helped him understand the difficulty of having unsold inventory at the end of a workday.
