Betsy Díaz Velázquez leads commerce reforms in Sancti Spíritus

Betsy Díaz Velázquez, the Minister of Interior Commerce, met with local authorities in Sancti Spíritus to oversee reforms in the retail and wholesale sectors. The initiative focuses on business decentralization, granting greater decision-making autonomy to local territories to better adapt to regional economic realities.

Key components of the transformation include the implementation of new distribution models, such as wholesale supply markets and neighborhood markets designed to bring products closer to the population. The reform also aims to improve food services through mobile and fixed light gastronomy networks.

Despite the shift toward greater autonomy, the Minister emphasized that state commerce will maintain its social responsibility. A primary focus remains the protection and support of vulnerable families through the refinement of the Family Care System and the transition of regulated food baskets toward controlled sales models.
