Bettina Dalton, natural history filmmaker, dies

Bettina ‘Tina’ Dalton, a prominent Australian natural history filmmaker and principal of WildBear Entertainment, has died on the Sunshine Coast following a short illness.

Over a career spanning more than three decades, Dalton contributed significantly to the factual and environmental media sectors. Her work included feature documentaries such as ‘Playing with Sharks’, which was selected for the Sundance Film Festival, and ‘Every Little Thing’. Her television credits include productions for National Geographic, such as ‘Boss Croc’ and ‘Dolphin Dynasty’, as well as work for Love Nature, PBS Nature, and SBS Australia.

Before her career in film and television, Dalton worked as a park ranger with the Queensland National Parks and Wildlife Service. She gained early recognition on-screen as ‘Ranger Tina’ in ‘Cane Toads: An Unnatural History’ and later worked alongside Sir David Attenborough on ‘The Trials of Life’. WildBear Entertainment CEO Michael Tear described her as a visionary colleague and a major figure in putting the company on the map.
