Bettina Tietjen warns of deepfake scam videos

German NDR presenter Bettina Tietjen has issued an urgent warning to her followers regarding fraudulent deepfake videos circulating on social media. In these manipulated clips, AI is used to make it appear as though Tietjen is endorsing an Alzheimer's treatment, a product she has no connection to.

Tietjen addressed the issue via a Facebook post, stating, “These are fake videos, scammers are behind them,” and urged the public not to fall victim to the deception. This follows a previous incident in early 2024 where manipulated images falsely suggested she had been arrested.

The presenter is not alone in facing such technology-driven scams. Physician and moderator Eckart von Hirschhausen has also reported being targeted by deepfakes used to promote dubious diet products, describing the experience as a “theft of personality.”
