Beulah flash flood kills one man in Colorado

A man was killed on Sunday following a flash flood in Beulah, Colorado. The victim was standing near the intersection of Highway 78 and Central Avenue when he was swept away by fast-moving floodwaters caused by heavy rainfall over the Beulah Valley and the Aspen Acres burn scar.

Emergency response efforts included the Beulah fire department, Pueblo County Sheriff's deputies, and the PCSO Emergency Services Division. Search operations utilized ground teams, drones, and a Flight for Life helicopter. Rescuers eventually located the man in a creek approximately two miles downstream, where he was pronounced dead.

The National Weather Service reported that approximately 1 to 1.5 inches of rain fell in the area within a 90-minute period. Pueblo County Sheriff David J. Lucero issued condolences to the victim's family and warned residents to remain vigilant, noting that flooding near burn-scarred terrain can escalate rapidly, especially during the ongoing monsoon season.
