Beyazıtlı Mosque hosts 97-year-old historical clock in Kahramanmaraş

A 97-year-old historical winding clock remains functional at the Beyazıtlı Mosque in the Onikişubat district of Kahramanmaraş. The clock, which stands approximately 2 meters tall and features intricate artistic decorations, is one of only three such clocks originally made for the city's mosques; the others have since been lost.

Imam Veli Ceyhan maintains the timepiece by winding it manually every week. While the clock continues to show accurate time, Ceyhan noted that there are currently no specialized craftsmen available to repair such a mechanism.

The Beyazıtlı Mosque itself dates back to 1618 and is noted for its wood and stone craftsmanship. Although the mosque's minaret sustained damage during the February 6, 2023 earthquakes, it has since been reconstructed and reopened for worship.
