Turkish athletes achieve historic milestones in athletics and cycling

Turkey has hosted several significant national and international sporting events across various disciplines. In athletics, young sprinter Zülal Gültepe achieved a historic milestone at the U-20 Club Turkish Championship in Konya. Competing in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay, Gültepe secured first place in all three. Her 200m time of 22.04 seconds marks the second-best performance in Turkish athletics history for the stars category, placing her 7th in the world rankings for her age group.

In cycling, multiple championships took place. The first Regional Turkey Mountain Bike (MTB) Championship was held in Sakarya at the Ayçiçeği Bicycle Valley, featuring a new format where athletes competed for both regional and general classification titles. Additionally, the Yeşilay Turkey Road Cycling Championship was held in Burdur. During this event, Karatay Belediyespor’s U11 Men’s team claimed the Turkish championship, and Selçuklu Belediyespor saw success with Hasan Can Cırık winning the U17 Men’s Road Race and the club taking the U17 Men’s team title.

Furthermore, the International Beydağı Mountain Bike Race commenced in Malatya with a large parade. Organized by the Malatya Metropolitan Municipality, the event involved 650 athletes and aims to establish the region as a center for sports and healthy living.
