Local developments reported across Diyarbakır, Konya, and Trabzon
Various local developments and incidents have been reported across several Turkish regions. In Diyarbakır, the Metropolitan Municipality and Bağlar Municipality have completed the demolition of 32 abandoned buildings over the past month. These structures, located in neighborhoods such as Muradiye and Yunus Emre, were identified as risks to public safety and health, often serving as hubs for criminal activity. Authorities plan to demolish an additional 60 structures.
In Konya’s Beyşehir district, two separate incidents occurred. First, a 26-year-old man was injured after being trapped between a moving truck and iron railings while attempting to stop the vehicle after its brakes failed. He was rescued using a crane and treated at Beyşehir State Hospital. Second, Beyşehir Municipality reported damage to public property after two individuals were caught on security cameras spray-painting marble walls in newly renovated pedestrian underpasses. Mayor Adil Bayındır stated that legal action is being taken to recover damages and ensure such vandalism is monitored via security cameras.
In Trabzon, Mustafa Çankaya, a member of the municipal council, issued a call for environmental protection in the region's highlands, specifically Hıdırnebi and Kayabaşı. He urged both citizens and local authorities to address increasing pollution caused by high visitor density during social activities and festivals.
