Beyşehir Women’s Textile Recycling Initiative Moves to Serial Production

In Beyşehir district of Konya, Turkey, the "Hünerli Eller" project, funded by the Ministry of Interior’s Civil Society Relations Directorate and implemented by the local Yenidoğan Kalkındırma ve Dayanışma Derneği (YENDER), has established a textile‑waste workshop. The programme trains 24 housewives in sewing; since January they have been producing pajamas and under‑garments from reclaimed fabrics. Ten participants have already begun small‑scale production, and the project aims to launch full‑scale serial production in September. Organisers highlight the dual goal of creating employment for women and promoting circular‑economy practices that turn textile waste into marketable goods, thereby supporting both household incomes and environmental sustainability.
