Beykoz Municipality Cleaner Returns Gold‑Filled Bag to Owner After Finding It on Istanbul Beach

Cleaning worker Nursen Helva of the Beykoz Municipality in Istanbul discovered a small black bag buried in the sand at Elmasburnu Beach. Inside were approximately 80 grams of gold, a Turkish quarter, about 100 US dollars and 400 TL, valued at roughly 500,000 TL.

She reported the find to her supervisor, who instructed her to deliver the bag to the police with a written record. Police identified the owner, a woman who had reported her missing valuables, and the bag was returned to her intact. Helva’s actions were praised as an example of civic responsibility.
