Beyla officials call for infrastructure following administrative upgrade
Following a presidential decree in August elevating Beyla to an administrative region, local leaders and residents are calling for the necessary infrastructure to support its new status. While the decision is being met with widespread satisfaction, officials emphasize that significant investments are required to make the region functional.
Frébory Donzo, the second vice-mayor of Beyla, identified road construction and rehabilitation as the highest priority. He noted that improving connections between Beyla and Sinko, Sinko and Karala, and the Beyla-Kérouané axis is essential for the movement of people and goods, particularly to support the agricultural potential of the area.
Local leaders, including former mayor Elhadj Louncenou Kourouma, expressed gratitude toward President Mamadi Doumbouya for fulfilling a long-standing demand. Beyond transportation, the community is anticipating developments in administrative facilities, education, and general local development to match the city's new governance role.
