Beyoğlu artist loses 20 years of work in firework-induced blaze

A fire broke out in a residence in Istanbul's Beyoğlu district after a firework, allegedly thrown by fans following a Kasımpaşa-Trabzonspor Super Lig match, landed on a fourth-floor apartment.

The fire destroyed the home and studio of painter and musician Murat Melih Özen. The blaze consumed approximately 20 years of professional artwork, painting supplies, musical equipment, and documents. Özen, who was in Dalaman with his family at the time of the incident, reported that he was preparing for a new exhibition and had only a few pieces left to complete before the loss of his life's work.
