Beyoncé donates $2 million to Studio Museum in Harlem

Beyoncé Knowles has announced a $2 million donation to the Studio Museum in Harlem to mark her 45th birthday. The contribution is intended to support the institution's mission of making art more accessible and fostering the development of emerging Black artists.

The Studio Museum in Harlem is a central institution for contemporary African American art. It recently reopened its new seven-story headquarters on West 125th Street, designed by architect David Adjaye, following a seven-year closure and a $300 million fundraising effort.

Beyoncé has a long-standing connection to contemporary art, frequently incorporating visual references and collaborations with artists into her audiovisual projects, such as the 2018 video ‘Apeshit’. Alongside her husband, Jay-Z, she has also built a significant collection of works by African American and contemporary artists.
