Beyoncé releases remastered “Irreplaceable” honoring Selena Quintanilla
To celebrate her 45th birthday and the 20th anniversary of her second studio album, B'Day, Beyoncé has released an expanded 31-track version of the record. A highlight of this release is a remastered version of her hit “Irreplaceable,” which incorporates the rhythm and musical elements of Selena Quintanilla’s 1992 anthem “Como la flor.”
In this new version, Beyoncé performs some verses in Spanish. She noted that while she does not speak the language, listening to Quintanilla’s music helped her during the studio process. Beyoncé, who grew up in Texas, has long expressed her admiration for the late singer, recalling a brief, casual encounter with her at the Galleria mall in Houston before Beyoncé became a public figure.
Chris Pérez, the husband of Selena Quintanilla, expressed his approval of the tribute on Instagram, calling Beyoncé one of his favorite singers and referring to Quintanilla as his favorite of all.
