Beyond Gravity targeted by sophisticated cyberattack

Beyond Gravity, a Swiss aerospace supplier owned by the federal government, has been targeted by a sophisticated cyberattack. The company reported receiving initial indications of malicious activity within its IT environment on August 12.

Investigations are being conducted in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Office for Cybersecurity and the external forensics firm Mandiant. Beyond Gravity stated that the complexity of the incident suggests the involvement of a “highly professional actor,” though the identity of the perpetrator has not yet been confirmed. The company has filed a criminal complaint and is expanding its security measures, including increased monitoring and forensic analysis of affected devices.

The FDP political party has characterized the incident as an “attack on Switzerland,” suggesting that if a state actor is responsible, it signifies that hybrid warfare has reached the country. The party is calling for increased political priority and investment in the security of national infrastructure.
