Ayhan Barut raises Adana land consolidation issues in Parliament
Ayhan Barut, a Yeni Parti Adana deputy and member of the TBMM Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Affairs Commission, has raised concerns regarding farmers in Adana facing bureaucratic hurdles due to land consolidation.
Barut noted that state-led land consolidation has changed land parcel and map information. This has created significant issues for farmers who hold valid underground water well licenses from the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ). To update these licenses to match new cadastral data, farmers are being required to obtain consent from a majority of new landowners or heirs, a burden Barut argues should not fall on the producers for a state-initiated process.
A parliamentary inquiry has been submitted to Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı seeking a solution to these systemic issues.
