Bezdružice Castle offered for sale at reduced price
The Bezdružice Castle in the Tachov region is being offered for sale by the state for the sixth time. The minimum starting price for the electronic auction has been reduced to 45 million CZK, down from an original 60 million CZK.
The property was seized from businessman Jiří Kubíček, who was sentenced to eight years in prison for a fraud that caused damages of 2.25 billion CZK to nearly 8,000 investors. Proceeds from the sale will be transferred to a special account managed by the Ministry of Justice to assist victims of crime.
Local officials note that while the castle is a significant cultural monument and a dominant feature of Bezdružice, it requires repairs and suffers from humidity due to a lack of heating. The municipality has expressed interest in the site but cannot afford the purchase or the estimated monthly energy costs of 200,000 CZK. The auction is scheduled to take place between December 8 and December 9, 2026, with a required deposit of 4 million CZK.
