Březová Reservoir reveals historical bridge amid 20-year low water levels

The Březová Reservoir near Karlovy Vary is experiencing its lowest water levels in approximately 20 years due to a lack of sustained rainfall. The receding water has revealed a historical bridge that is typically submerged several meters underwater, attracting hundreds of visitors daily.

According to Povodí Ohře spokesperson Dana Zikešová, the water level is approaching a critical threshold of 421 meters above sea level. If this limit is reached, the authority may be required to reduce the outflow to a minimum of 100 liters per second to maintain the river ecosystem below the dam. Currently, 100 liters per second flow into the reservoir from the Teplá River, while 230 liters per second flow out.
