BGL supports German plans to reduce transport sector bureaucracy
The German transport organization BGL (Bundesverband Güterkraftverkehr Logistik und Entsorgung) has expressed support for government plans aimed at reducing bureaucracy and increasing digitalization within the road transport sector.
Following a report on the progress of government modernization, several measures were introduced by Minister Karsten Wildberger. Key initiatives include the creation of a central digital portal (i-Kfz) at the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt to make vehicle registration more uniform across Germany. Additionally, the plans involve the implementation of digital vehicle and driver's license documents and a shift from periodic driver's license checks to a one-time verification process to reduce administrative burdens on transport and forwarding companies.
BGL spokesperson Dirk Engelhardt noted that these measures address the needs of medium-sized transport companies currently facing high economic pressure, emphasizing the necessity of a fast and reliable digital government.
