BH Telecom celebrates Company Day and telecommunications history
BH Telecom is celebrating its Company Day, marking over three decades of connecting Bosnia and Herzegovina to the world. The anniversary commemorates the 1993 breakthrough when telecommunications experts established the first international satellite link between Sarajevo and Basel, breaking the country's telecommunications blockade.
This milestone led to the assignment of the +387 international telephone code to Bosnia and Herzegovina by the International Telecommunication Union. This year's celebration features an exhibition titled ‘From +387 to the Digital Future,’ which uses archival materials and photography to trace the company's evolution. The program also highlights the contributions of women in the telecommunications and IT sectors, specifically honoring those who participated in the 1993 deblockade.
