Bhadohi woman killed by train while saving son from suicide attempt

A 46-year-old woman, identified as Shiv Kumari, was killed by a train in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, while attempting to save her 20-year-old son from a suicide attempt.

The incident occurred late Thursday evening at the Indira Mill railway crossing in the Kotwali area. According to police, the confrontation began at a private nursing home where Kumari was visiting her daughter. Her son, Vishal Rajbhar, who had been consuming alcohol, demanded money from her. Following an argument over the refusal, Vishal threatened to jump in front of a train and ran toward the tracks.

Witnesses reported that as a train approached, Kumari reached her son and pushed him out of the way, but she was struck by the locomotive and died at the scene. Vishal sustained injuries and was transferred from a district hospital to the BHU Trauma Centre in Varanasi for treatment. Police noted that several relatives arrived at the scene while reportedly under the influence of alcohol and had to be persuaded by officers to return home.
