Bhagwant Mann alleges BJP-Akali Dal nexus over farm laws
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) of forming a political nexus to regain power. Speaking at a Lok Milni programme, Mann alleged that a potential alliance between the two parties is contingent upon the acceptance and implementation of the three controversial farm laws that previously triggered widespread farmer agitations.
Mann claimed that the Akali Dal is willing to compromise the interests of Punjab and sacrifice the memory of farmers who died during the protests to secure an alliance with the BJP. He further asserted that the BJP is utilizing communal divisions to garner votes and pointed to recent Panjab University poll results as evidence of the existing political understanding between the two groups.
In addition to criticizing the opposition, Mann highlighted his government’s focus on infrastructure and welfare, including improvements in schools, hospitals, electricity, and roads. He warned voters that a SAD-BJP alliance could lead to the reimposition of draconian farm laws and predicted that the electorate would reject both parties in the 2027 Assembly elections.
