Bhagwant Singh Mann lays foundation for ₹37-crore Guru Ravidass study centre
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has laid the foundation stone for the Sri Guru Ravidass Ji Bani Adhyayan Centre at Dera Sachkhand Ballan in Jalandhar. The project, costing ₹37 crore, will span 10.4 acres and is part of the state's year-long celebrations for the 650th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj.
The centre is designed to serve as a major institution for studying the life, philosophy, and sacred teachings (Bani) of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj. Infrastructure plans include a three-storey administration and teaching block, separate hostels for 54 boys and 54 girls, and residential quarters for teachers and staff. The Punjab government has committed to covering all construction expenditures.
During the ceremony, which included Sant Niranjan Dass, Mann emphasized that the centre would help propagate the Guru's message of equality, humanity, and dignity worldwide, particularly his teachings against caste discrimination and social inequality.
