Bharat PetroResources Limited acquires Videocon stake in Brazil

Bharat PetroResources Limited (BPRL), an arm of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), has completed the acquisition of Videocon’s entire shareholding in IBV Brasil Petroleo Limitada (IBV). This transaction transforms the former Brazilian joint venture into a wholly owned step-down subsidiary of BPRL.

Following official approval from Brazilian authorities on August 19, 2026, the entity has been renamed BPRL Brasil Limitada. The company holds interests in several oil and gas concessions in Brazil, including the BM-C-30 and BM-SEAL-11 blocks. In the BM-SEAL-11 concession, BPRL Brasil Limitada operates in a consortium with Petrobras to conduct field development activities.

Once commercial production begins, the offshore project is estimated to yield approximately one million tonnes of oil equivalent per annum as BPRL’s equity share. The restructuring is intended to provide a clear operational path and a stable identity for the company’s activities in the Brazilian market.
