Bhatkal mosque and madrasa targeted during Ganesh procession

Tensions rose in Bhatkal, Karnataka, after unidentified individuals allegedly pelted stones at a mosque and an Arabic madrasa during a Ganesh idol immersion procession on Wednesday night. The incident occurred on Gulmi Railway Station Road as the procession moved from Taland toward the railway station.

The stone-pelting reportedly damaged windowpanes at the Ismail Sunni Jamiya Mosque and the Tajus Sunna Arabic Madrasa. Following the incident, local residents gathered outside the Bhatkal Town Police Station to demand immediate arrests and legal action.

Uttara Kannada Superintendent of Police Deepan MN visited the site to inspect the damage and review the situation. Police have registered a case against unidentified persons and are currently examining CCTV footage and other evidence to identify those responsible. Additional police personnel have been deployed to the area to maintain law and order and prevent further disturbances.
