Borneo FC targets Group D title in AFC Challenge League clash against Tainan City

Borneo FC Samarinda is preparing to host Tainan City FC at Stadion Segiri in Samarinda on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, for their second Group D match in the AFC Challenge League 2026/2027.

Following a 2-0 victory over Yangon United in their opening match, Borneo FC currently leads the group. The competitive landscape of Group D changed after the AFC removed the Philippine representative, One Taguig FC, from the competition. This leaves only three teams in the group, meaning Borneo FC mathematically only requires a draw to secure a spot in the quarter-finals.

Despite the easy path to qualification, head coach Mauro Jeronimo has stated that the team will not play defensively. Jeronimo emphasized that the primary objective is to win the match and finish as group leaders to maintain momentum and confidence. He has encouraged his players to remain humble and focused on scoring multiple goals to ensure they secure the top position.
