Bhedaghat to host India’s first world-class geological park and museum
The Government of India has approved an 87 crore rupee project to develop India’s first world-class geological park and museum at the Bhedaghat-Lamhetaghat site in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The project will be implemented by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme.
Spanning approximately 12 hectares, the development aims to preserve the natural landscape, with a goal to keep over 90 percent of the area green. The facility will include a geological museum, an interpretation center, six thematic galleries, and various interactive exhibits such as 3D modeling and touch tables. The project is designed to highlight the Lamheta formation and the local geological culture.
Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh, who spearheaded the proposal, noted that the initiative will boost tourism, create local employment, and enhance business opportunities in the region. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months, with a target timeline extending through September 2026.
