BHEL and Titagarh form joint venture for Vande Bharat sleeper trains

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) have entered into a 50:50 joint venture agreement to manage the manufacturing and long-term maintenance of 80 Vande Bharat sleeper trains. This partnership is part of a major Indian Railways project valued at approximately ₹24,000 crore.

The joint venture, which will be registered as a private limited company based in Delhi, is designed to cover the entire 35-year service life of the trainsets. Beyond the initial construction and supply, the companies will be responsible for ensuring operational readiness, safety, and reliability through comprehensive maintenance, technical support, and the upgrading of trainset depots and manufacturing units.
