Bhilwara explosion kills driver and damages homes

A powerful explosion involving a pickup van loaded with explosives occurred in the Aguancha area of Bhilwara district, Rajasthan, on Monday morning. The blast destroyed the vehicle, leaving only small metal fragments, and caused significant damage to the surrounding residential area. At least a dozen houses within a 150-meter radius suffered broken windows and cracks in their walls, while a nearby perimeter wall collapsed.

The driver, identified as Atmaram Gurjar (also referred to as Ram Avtar), died at the scene. His body was recovered from beneath the debris of a collapsed wall.

Preliminary investigations suggest the explosives were transported from a magazine located in Chainpuria, approximately five kilometers away, to a residential enclosure belonging to Ramdev Khatik. Authorities are currently investigating the purpose of transporting explosives into a residential zone and whether the transport and storage were conducted with valid licenses. The magazine operator is currently missing, and police teams are conducting searches. Forensic teams have been deployed to the site to collect evidence and determine the exact cause of the blast.
