Bhimeshwar Dham emerges as religious tourism hub in Assam

Bhimeshwar Dham, located in the Dakini hill region near Guwahati, is emerging as a significant destination for religious tourism in Assam. The site is noted for its natural scenery and a Shiva Lingam that undergoes ritual bathing via a natural mountain stream.

According to official Assam government documents, the site is listed as ‘Bhimeshwar Dham Dwadas Jyotirlinga, Pamohi, Gorchuk’. Local traditions associate the site with Lord Shiva's victory over the demon Bhasmasura.

The growth in pilgrimage is expected to stimulate the local economy by creating employment opportunities in sectors such as transportation, hospitality, food services, and handicrafts, benefiting local guides, drivers, and small business owners.
