Bhopal court extends custody of former judge Giribala Singh in Twisha Sharma murder case

On July 14, a Bhopal court granted the Central Bureau of Investigation’s request to extend the judicial custody of former district judge Giribala Singh and her son Samarth Singh by 14 days, keeping them in remand until July 28. Both appeared before the court via video link.

The extension was ordered after the agency said the duo had not cooperated, notably refusing to provide voice samples the CBI needed to match audio evidence. The court also authorized collection of those samples. The CBI noted pending forensic reports from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, further digital evidence awaiting analysis, and several key witness statements still to be recorded. Twisha Sharma was found dead in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12; her in‑laws claim suicide, while her maternal family alleges murder, prompting the ongoing investigation.
