Bhopal-Indore expressway project to reduce travel time

The Madhya Pradesh government is advancing plans for a new 160-kilometer, six-lane greenfield expressway connecting Bhopal and Indore. The project, estimated to cost approximately Rs 4,000 crore, is being treated as a priority infrastructure development for the state.

Unlike traditional road widening projects, this will be a greenfield route, meaning a completely new path will be constructed to bypass existing local traffic and towns. The expressway is expected to start in Bhopal, pass through the Raisen and Sehore areas, and reach Karnawad in the Dewas district.

The new corridor aims to significantly reduce travel time between the two major cities from the current four hours to between 2 and 2.5 hours. This development is expected to facilitate faster movement of goods, reduce fuel consumption, and improve connectivity for regional areas such as Sehore and Dewas.
