Bhopal police investigate murder linked to organ-trafficking plot

Police in Bhopal, India, are investigating the murder of 17-year-old Rehan, who was allegedly killed as part of an organ-trafficking plot motivated by social media misinformation. Investigators believe the group was misled by false claims online regarding the high black-market value of human testicles, which they believed could be sold in Gulf countries for approximately 12 million Indian rupees.

Authorities allege that 20-year-old business student Zoheb Khan acted as the mastermind, recruiting the group and directing the crime via video call. Khan reportedly posed as a doctor, purchasing medical equipment online to prepare the others. The victim, a street vendor, was allegedly lured to an isolated location near Lower Lake on August 6 under the pretense of helping with a fight.

Following the stabbing, the suspects reportedly removed the organs and kept them on ice for two days while searching for a buyer. After failing to find one, Khan allegedly instructed the group to dispose of the organs in various lakes. Rehan’s body was discovered in Lower Lake on August 10. Police have arrested Khan and 18-year-old Aamir Qureshi, and have detained three minors in connection with the case.
