Bhopal retired judge and son charged in dowry death case

Police in Bhopal filed a First Information Report against retired district judge Giribala Singh and her son, lawyer Support Singh, accusing them of dowry death and dowry‑related harassment following the suicide of 34‑year‑old Twisha Sharma. Sharma, an MBA graduate from Noida who worked in Delhi, was found hanging from a pipe on the roof of her home in Laharpur on May 15, 2026. Her family alleges that the couple fabricated a suicide narrative and destroyed evidence.

The FIR was lodged at Katara Hills police station on May 17, and investigators have raided the suspects' residences and other possible locations. Neither Giribala nor Support Singh has been arrested so far. Twisha’s relatives have staged continuous protests outside the police station and the commissioner's office, demanding swift action and alleging police hesitance due to the suspects’ influence.
