Bhopal students protest proposed school merger with KVS

Students at the Regional School in Bhopal have staged protests against a proposed merger of the Demonstration Multipurpose School (DMS) with the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS).

Since 1965, these Demonstration Multipurpose Schools have operated under the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in Bhopal, Ajmer, Mysuru, and Bhubaneswar. The institutions were established as experimental centers to develop innovative teaching practices and research new educational approaches.

Protesters expressed concerns that shifting to the KVS administrative structure would dilute the school’s unique identity and undermine its original purpose of academic experimentation. During the demonstration, students raised slogans such as “Save DMS” and submitted a memorandum to Regional College principal Professor S K Gupta. The students have demanded the withdrawal of the merger decision and warned of intensified demonstrations if their demands are not met.
