BHP Group shares rise modestly as copper and iron‑ore prices stabilize

BHP Group Ltd shares edged up 0.27% on June 1, 2026, closing at $62.48 as commodity markets showed signs of stabilising. The modest gain reflected steadier copper prices, driven by demand from the electric‑vehicle and renewable‑energy sectors, and iron‑ore prices holding around $100‑110 per tonne amid continued Chinese steel production.

The Australian mining giant reported a solid full‑year profit of $13.7 billion for the year to June 2025, highlighted by strong copper output from the Spence Growth Option in Chile and the Olympic Dam operation in South Australia. Analysts maintain a generally positive outlook, with average price targets of $65‑$70 and a dividend yield of about 3.5%, below the five‑year average of 6.9%.

BHP continues to focus on low‑carbon initiatives, including progress on its Jansen potash project in Canada, and maintains a diversified portfolio across copper, iron‑ore, nickel, coal and emerging fertiliser assets.
