BHP reshapes executive team amid analyst debate on share value
BHP Group announced a restructuring of its senior leadership as incoming chief executive Brandon Craig prepares to assume the role on 1 July 2026. The President Americas position will be split into separate North America and South America posts; Jessica Farrell, currently vice‑president of innovation, will become President North America on 1 July and will temporarily oversee South America until a permanent appointment is made. COO Edgar Basto will move to the new role of Chief Enterprise Performance Officer on 1 September, keeping responsibility for health, safety, security and the BHP operating system. Geraldine Slattery will expand her duties as President Australia to include Copper South Australia, unifying all Australian operating assets under her leadership.
Financial commentators note that BHP remains a high‑dividend mining stock but caution that iron‑ore earnings could be pressured by price volatility and new supply from projects such as Simandou. They are more optimistic about the company's copper exposure, citing rising demand from electric‑vehicle production, grid expansion and digitalisation. While the share price is modestly cheaper than in mid‑June, analysts suggest investors may wait for a better valuation before adding to positions.
