BHRT and Banja Luka court condemn political pressure on judiciary
The public broadcaster of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHRT) and the District Commercial Court in Banja Luka have condemned political and institutional pressure targeting the judiciary. The dispute stems from a court decision to block all accounts of Radio-television of Republika Srpska (RTRS) due to multi-year debts owed to BHRT.
BHRT has accused political representatives in Republika Srpska of attempting to influence the legal process through public discredit of judges, specifically targeting Judge Gordana Marić after she rejected RTRS's objection to the account freeze. BHRT Acting General Director Belmin Karamehmedović stated that the broadcaster will not allow a legal process regarding constitutional rights to be transformed into a political issue.
The District Commercial Court in Banja Luka also issued an appeal to the media, urging respect for judicial independence and cautioning against reporting that crosses the line into commenting on procedural actions or prejudging the outcome of the ongoing case.
