BHRT faces critical crisis amid account blockades and legal disputes

The situation at the Public Broadcasting Services of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHRT) has reached a critical point due to ongoing account blockades. Merima Kurtović-Pašalić, President of the BHRT Independent Workers' Union, warned that the situation is at its worst, leaving 765 employees and their families in a severe existential crisis. Workers have reportedly not received salaries, transport allowances, or meal subsidies.

Legal disputes between BHRT and RTRS continue to escalate. Jasmin Emrić reported that BHRT is owed a total of 33.7 million KM according to previous court rulings, including 7.9 million KM from two specific executive decisions regarding RTV taxes. Furthermore, a revision by the Supreme Court of Republika Srpska reduced RTRS's claims against BHRT, meaning BHRT no longer owes 7.39 million KM for fixed radio links.

Additional legal proceedings are underway, with BHRT pursuing another 66.8 million KM in RTV tax disputes against RTRS. Some of these cases are currently awaiting decisions from the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Supreme Court of Republika Srpska.
