The state public broadcaster of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BHRT, is facing a severe financial and institutional crisis that threatens its continued operation. For one month, all of BHRT's accounts have been blocked, leaving more than 750 employees without salaries or access to healthcare benefits.

Due to the lack of funds for production and reporting, BHRT has been forced to shut down two programs, including its morning show. The association BH Journalists has warned that the situation has reached a critical point, stating that the collapse of BHRT could lead to the disintegration of the entire public broadcasting system in the country, which includes RTVFBiH and RTRS.

The crisis is attributed to a long-standing failure to implement legal obligations regarding the collection and distribution of RTV tax revenues. BHRT is currently engaged in legal proceedings to recover debts exceeding 109 million marks from RTRS. BH Journalists has called for urgent intervention from the state Parliament, the Council of Ministers, and the international community, including the Office of the High Representative (OHR), to resolve the funding deadlock and ensure a stable, independent model for public media.
