Bhubaneswar and Mumbai issue strict guidelines for Ganesh Puja 2026
Authorities in Bhubaneswar and Mumbai have issued strict guidelines for the 2026 Ganesh Puja celebrations to manage noise and public order. In Bhubaneswar, the Commissionerate Police has implemented a complete ban on DJ music, permitting only traditional musical instruments and microphones at controlled sound levels. Additionally, firecrackers are prohibited during processions, and cultural programs must conclude by 10 pm.
To manage idol immersion, Bhubaneswar officials have designated specific dates—September 16, 18, and 20—and identified several temporary ponds and river locations for the process. Organizers are advised to avoid peak traffic hours and national highways to minimize disruption. In Mumbai, Ganesh mandals have been instructed to strictly adhere to legal noise limits, with coordination committees seeking further clarity on regulations regarding DJs and idol height.
In Bhubaneswar, officials expect approximately 420 puja venues, with around 380 located within city limits. Extensive security arrangements are being implemented across procession routes and immersion sites.
