Bhubaneswar announces civic projects and voter list survey

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched several development initiatives to improve civic amenities in the capital city. Key projects include the establishment of the state’s first pet crematorium, to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and a comprehensive drainage system upgrade developed in collaboration with IIT Roorkee. The BMC also plans to complete a compressed biogas plant by the end of the year to enhance waste management and is working to upgrade several major markets.

In parallel, the Odisha State Election Commission (SEC) has announced a pilot survey within the BMC area to rectify voter list discrepancies ahead of upcoming Panchayat and Municipal elections. Running from September 3 to 11, the door-to-door survey aims to resolve issues such as family members being assigned to different polling booths and incorrect ward assignments. This pilot will precede a statewide survey scheduled for late October to improve voter accessibility and turnout.
